Some careers pay the bills.
This one builds a legacy.

Generational Run is a flatbed carrier built out of the Pittsburgh steel corridor — hauling steel, lumber, and crane mats from the Northeast mill towns to the Southeast boom markets, the Midwest heartland to the Southwest energy patch. FAQs

Straight answers

What kind of freight will I actually be hauling?
Open-deck only: steel coils, beams and plate, dimensional lumber and building products, crane and access mats, and project machinery. No dry van, no reefer, no surprises.
Where will I run?
Four regions — Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, and Southwest. Most freight originates in the Northeast steel and lumber corridors, with consistent reload markets across the other three regions. We plan you home bi-weekly.
Is dispatch forced?
No. Owner operators choose their loads, period. Company drivers work with a planner who builds runs around your home time — and we expect you to communicate, not just refuse.
How fast do owner operators get paid?
Weekly settlements with every line item shown. No hidden chargebacks, no "administrative fees" that appear out of nowhere. You'll see exactly what the load paid and exactly what you earned.
Do I need flatbed experience?
Flatbed experience is preferred, but strong OTR drivers willing to learn securement the right way are welcome. Orientation includes hands-on securement and tarping review — nobody rolls until they're ready.
What makes you different from the last carrier that burned me?
We're small on purpose, backed by our own brokerage, and building a founding fleet we plan to keep for decades. Drivers aren't truck numbers here — when the company is named Generational Run, churning through people would be a strange business model.

Why Us

Built in steel country.
Built to last generations.

Generational Run wasn't started by a private equity fund or a spreadsheet. It was started by freight people from the Pittsburgh area who got tired of watching good drivers get treated like line items.

Our Story

From the load board to the long haul

We started on the brokerage side as Energy Freight Solutions — moving steel, lumber, and crane mats for shippers across the toughest open-deck corridors in the country. Years of brokering that freight taught us exactly which carriers shippers trust, which drivers stay, and why.

Generational Run is the answer: an asset fleet built on everything we learned. Freight relationships already in place. Lanes already proven. And a simple operating rule — if a policy wouldn't survive being explained to a driver's face, it doesn't become policy.

The name isn't marketing. We're building a carrier meant to be run, and driven, for generations.

What We Stand On

Three things we don't bend on

HonestyThe pay package we advertise is the pay package you get. Settlements show every line. If something changes, you hear it from us first — not from your settlement sheet.
SafetySecurement done by the book, maintenance never deferred, and no dispatcher will ever push you to run when you shouldn't. Our safety record is the company's resume.
LongevityWe'd rather grow slow with drivers who stay than grow fast with seats that turn over. Every decision gets one test: does it still make sense ten years from now?
By The Numbers

A founding fleet, on purpose

We're building toward a tight, well-run fleet — not an armada. Small enough that dispatch knows your kids' names, big enough that the freight never runs dry.

100% FlatbedOpen deck is all we do. Specialists, not generalists.
4 RegionsNortheast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest — freight diversity that keeps wheels turning in any market.

Trailers & Securement

Spec'd for the freight we actually haul

Premium 48-foot flatbeds with spread-axle options for the heavy stuff. Every trailer rolls with a full securement package — drivers never buy their own chains here, and shippers never see freight leave under-secured.

  • Full securement package issued with every trailer
  • Coil packages for steel work
  • New tarps that actually keep water out
  • Securement inspected at orientation and spot-checked after
Maintenance

Nothing deferred. Ever.

Deferred maintenance is how carriers turn small bills into breakdowns — and breakdowns into missed paychecks. Our preventive program keeps equipment ahead of schedule, and drivers are never penalized for writing up a defect.

Preventive FirstScheduled PM intervals tracked on every unit — service happens before failures, not after.
Write It UpSee something, say something. Defect reports get fixed, not filed. No driver eats downtime for being honest.
